Almonds are a food that I eat every day. This nutritious food is high in mono saturated fats which not only helps in lowering cholesterol, but is  very good for your heart health. Researchers believe that this is due to the high vitamin E content in almonds. Just a quarter cup of almonds also provides about  25% of the daily limit of  magnesium. Magnesium is a ” natural tranquilizer” which relaxes muscle movement and lessens the resistance in arteries and veins. This allows blood, oxygen and nutrients to flow more freely throughout the body and limit free radical damage.

Almonds also have a high content of manganese which help Read more…

Antibiotics are one of the things that cause yeast to get out of control.
There are causes other than antibiotics, but antibiotics are the most common. Antibiotics kill all bacteria good and bad, but they do not kill yeast. Only antifungals kill yeast. Therefore taking antibiotics kills off the good bacteria that are competing with the yeast for territory in your digestive tract. This is similar to any other battlefield where everyone wants territory. In this scenario the yeast will win because the antibiotics Read more…

Just a little note about fluctuations, fluctuations are a part of life for a person with ataxia. You will all have good days and bad days, but by being on a gluten and yeast free diet you should have more good days than bad and also the good days can be a 180 degree turn around from where you were. So in actual fact you don’t have good days and bad days anymore, but good days and better days. This is all the more reason for you to follow the gluten/yeast free diet. I know that a gluten free diet has only been “suggested/proven” to treat gluten ataxia, but in my opinion a human was never designed to eat gluten and we don’t need it to get our nutrients. I think that everybody Read more…

I would just like to say that eggs are not eggs. What I mean by this is that the eggs that are generally bought from the supermarket are from chickens that are injected with growth hormones, steroids and antibiotics. These affect both chicken and egg causing a reaction to a gluten and yeast intolerant person upon consumption. Major supplies wash their chicken in citric acid which apparently is used because it acts as a better cleaning agent.

Citric acid if consumed sets your progression back by at least a couple of days. Remember if the wrong foods are accidently consumed then your setback is Read more…

If you crave something sweet try raw honey which is also a natural yeast suppressor if taken in moderation, but when I say raw I don’t mean from the supermarket even if the label says raw. These honey’s are heated and filtered to give it a smooth texture and plus because they are heated they loose their nutrients, also they are often diluted with corn syrup which is a no no on the yeast free diet. What you want is raw honey straight from a bee keeper. This honey is an instant energy-building food containing all the esential Read more…
